Success Stories

What good would all of this work be without some good news to warm all our hearts. Specifically, we're talking about those cases where we rescue a cat, transport it to a new location (remember, relocations are a last resort, and their rate of success is normally not very good) and we trace it's journey from being trapped all the way to where he/she is now living out their days in beautiful surroundings with caring owners. So below, we've collected some stories for your, and our enjoyment.

Scarlett & Rhett to Sue in Rhode Island - May, 2009

Trapper: Jackie
Vet care: Jackie
Transport Leg 1: Trisha
Transport Leg 2: Laura
Caregiver: Sue

Scarlett & Rhett were trapped sometime in early May by Jackie, had all vet operations performed on them and were scheduled for transport on the Northern leg of what originally was to be an epic transport. Trisha Fravel was the transport driver and her trip was to have many stops. In the end, only two stops were achieved. One was to Rhode Island.

We pick up with the 1st update about Rhett & Scarlett from their new owner, Sue to Wilma (our amazing barns and stables finder) and Laura (a wonderful volunteer from Bridgeport, CT).

"Just thought you'd like to hear how great Scarlett and Rhett are doing! Scarlett is finally sitting in the middle of the cage, rather than smushed into the furthest corner she could shrink herself into, and is letting me pet her all over with just a sneer, but not pulling away! Progress!

Rhett on the other hand, is just cracking me up! He was literally drooling while I was petting him tonight, and he LOVES to give full-body rubs on my face, LOL! I have been able to have him out of the cage and following me around the barn, talking non-stop. Of course I make up stories about what he's "telling" me, and he gets very interested in our conversation, talking back and forth with long meows! He's a true riot! So much for feral...you sent me a comedian and a ham! He accompanies me in each stall as I'm cleaning, and follows me around as I do my chores watching everything! When I put him back in his cage, he 'marches' on the sheepskin bed, and completely tilts his head to the side with the funniest look on his face, as if to say..."but I'm soooo cute, don't you just want to come love me some more??"
He gives Scarlett alot of confidence, I think, as she watches him interact with me, so he's wonderful for her too!
Thanks so much for these two beautiful creatures! I love them already!
Sue :)

"Here are a few photos of Rhett! The ones of Scarlett are not good, since she's so black it's hard to make her out in the lighting inside the cage, so I figured I'd wait until next week to hopefully get some more of her once she's settled outside of the cage!
They are both still doing fantastic, and Rhett has begun to do the funniest things! He licks me like a dog, LOVES to have his face totally massaged (as you'll see in one of the pics), and calls to me when I disappear from view outside, and then runs when I call him as if he had been "lost'! So funny! He plays stick with Cricket and I...running to the place the stick goes sometimes, and then streaking off in the other direction as fast as he can, only to come back for more. So silly! He thinks he's "speed racer" and runs low to the ground as fast as he can through the grass. He is truly entertaining!
I'll let you know how Scarlett makes out next week when I start slowly letting her out!
Take care, Sue

No pictures exist of Scarlett because she is too dark furred and because she's camera shy. Rhett doesn't mind hogging the limelight and frankly my dear, he doesn't give a darn. Here it is sweetie, your 15 minutes of fame.
